HER LIFESTYLE

My Body, My Image

Hey Lovies! I have been missing for longer than a minute and I have missed blogging so much. As a fashion blogger I have constantly changed up my looks and wear stylish outfits, but  within the last couple of months I have suffered grealty with body image issues. Having a blog gives me the arena to be transparent with how I feel, my thoughts,  opinions and views on various subjects. I owe it to my readers to share my life in an open and honest way.

I have always dealt on a off with depression in my life but never like this. After getting engaged I slowly started putting on what my family would call  "happy weight", you know when you are so happy in love that you begin to pack  on the pounds.  My mid twenties and Carribean genes kicked in and BANG! There goes the hips, butt and thunder thighs. I have always fluctuated in my weight since my early twenties but this was different, I became more curvier then ever and gained more weight than the usual 10-15lbs. After seeing my engagement pictures back I realized that I was no longer slim. It then became hard for me to even look at myself in the mirror, I ended up truly not liking myself. I opted out of going to events, blogging and basically giving up my social life.  One of the signs of depression are; the persistent feelings of sadness or loss of interest. I thought and fought with where these emotions and feeling stemmed from, it was almost like I fell into a instant funk.  All the negative things I heard in the past about my body from loved ones came back to me. I was reminded that my body wasn't  perfect and needed improvement. It didn't matter that I was engaged to the love of my life and that he accepted  me for who I am and thinks I am absolutely  stunning.  That began to affect my relationship, if I wasn't loving me how could he? He did whatever  he could to help me fight this, but all he could do was pray for me and with me. One day after crying in his arms, He asked me to write on three posted  notes;  I am successful, I am beautiful and I am wonderfully made, I signed it and dated all three and stuck it to my bathroom mirror.

Three months later God has brought me out of depression! I still fight the devil every single day with negative thoughts. I constantly  remind myself that I am not FAT, I am not UGLY and I am not DEPRESSED. I am reminded  that you must watch what you say to others and speak positive to everyone you come across because words stick forever. I was never over weight when I was called fat! That's why I know the enemy is real and he is out to steal my joy. I am embracing my body for what it is and loving every curve. We grow, we change and that is life and sometimes it is really hard to accept it. I am healthy and strive to stay that way mentally and physically. Loving yourself is so crucial, your relationship with yourself and how you treat you says a lot. Give yourself  some love and be good to you, surround yourself  with good people and positive people. I rather have no friends and no boyfriend than have negative friends and a negative boyfriend, after all it is good for your mental health.

I am so happy to get back to the things that I love and of course one of them is blogging  and sharing my frugal fashion and forever evolving style wit you. I am excited about life again and the new journeys to come and up first on my adventure is GETTING MARRIED! Thanks to my fiancĂ©  James, he has helped me to remove the veil from over my eyes and see all the beauty in my life again.

Until next time lovies xoxo

Constance Edwards Scopelitis: Go Figure

Hey lovies! Last night I went to the Go Figure exhibit presented by Constance Edwards. I personally spoke to Constance and her spirit is so lovely and lively, she is such a joy to be around and of couse we connected being that she is a fellow Aries. Her art work is so passionate and in my eyes fashion forward. I felt so honored to be in her presence, because she is a woman who takes pride and is absolutely  in love with her craft. She graduated with a fine arts degree from Indiana University and continued her studies with the legendary American figurative painter Isabel Bishop. Constance is best known for April 2015 at both Spring Master's  and Art Miami NY.

Artist Statement
I place highly rendered figures within a world of expressionistic pop culture. I grab symbols influenced by contemporary life and insert them into a narrative executed in oil on linen with paper collage. I reinterpret visual icons from ad campaigns, fashion, graffiti, movies, and seal politics. My inspiration comes mostly response to socio/political thought and good humor.

GLENN'S KITCHEN REVIEW!

Hey Lovies! This post is long over due, I payed a visit to the Glenn's kitchen located at 110 Marietta St NW, Atlanta, GA 30303. It was the perfect evening from the food to the atmosphere. I wish I didn't forget to take a photo of my food but it was just that amazing! I devoured a great plate of the Georgia trout and I enjoyed every single bite. The prices are affordable and they give a good amount of food. Right after dinner, my date and I went upstairs of the Glenn's hotel Sky Lounge where we over looked an gorgeous view of entire center city(pictures below). I highly recommend this hotel for an over night stay, dinner, and just for a great night out or for special occasion. Tell them I sent ya!

Hey lovies! Welcome to my very first lifestyle post! Eeeek! So elated to share my love of throwing savvy themed gatherings along with attending faboulous events, trendy restaurants and travel.....all on a budget.  Along with loving fashion
I love to entertain and love a theme to go along with the party. All of  my dinner parties are affordable and I have so many great ideas to share with you love bugs.

This past Sunday I hosted a small garden party themed dinner. I made tuns of Haitian dishes such as; haitian black mushroom rice, griot(fried pork) fried sweet plantain, grilled asparagus with a vinaigrette  glaze, sautĂ© mushrooms, yellow zucini, and eggrolls.

3 cloves

2 garlic cloves

1/4 cup of parsley

1/2 cup onions

2 teaspoons salt

2 teaspoons black pepper

1/4 cup green pepper

paprika

2 lime (cut in half & juiced)

1 or 2 habanero peppers
3 to 4 cups of water
4 to 5 cups of vegetable oil
deep fryer
2 sheets of paper towel

How to clean and Marinate Pork

Blend habanero pepper, parsley, onion, cloves, garlic and paprika into a paste with about 1 tablespoon of lime juice, then set aside. In the sink, rub pork with limes rinse with cold water. In a meduim sized bowl, add pork, lime juice, paste of ingredients and mix with hands. Cover and refrigerate for 45 minutes to 24 hours.

Diri AK Djon Don (black mushroom rice)

In a saucer pan, add water, marinated pork and boil until tender, probably 30-45 minutes. Heat oil in deep fryer. Separate pork for liquid and set pork aside, do not discard liquid. Separate pork into batches for frying and fry until a light dark brown color. Set aside on paper towel. Once all the batches are completed you can used liquid as sauce for the rice or fried plantain.
